I have to write this down because I am now a mommy of three and officially all of the brain cells are gone. I'm not completely sure how it started, but I think it started the first week we brought Logan home. Logan is truly the perfect baby, except from around 7-10 p.m. That is his really fussy time. Ryan decided since it is our third child he would take to driving him around at night in the car. I secretly think Ryan liked getting out of the house and having some quite time in the car. Anyway, when he would bring Logan home he would be sound asleep and we would just let him be. This sleeping time would occur in his car seat. Because of this he loves his car seat. He now at the old age of almost three months has stopped that fussy time, but he still sleeps in his car seat. The last three days he has slept for eight hours right beside my bed in his car seat. Laugh all you want, but it worked. Now here comes the problem, he is getting to be very big and I thought maybe we would should move him to a regular bed. Mind you this bed is still in my room, because he will probably be in my room with me till he's 30. Last night was our first night of trying this out. Needless to say it was a bomb. He slept for three hours then decided he needed to just stay in our bed for the night. Oh well, it was worth a try and I will just try again tonight.

I love that he loves that car seat!
Umm yeah Ava was in our bed until she was 10 months old. And let me tell you it was HORRIBLE trying to get her to sleep elsewhere.
Try putting the car seat in the crib for a few nights, then have him unbuckled in the seat, in the crib(unless he is sitting up and rolling.) Then try a good ol swaddle. The Mirable Blanket works wonders, or a twin sized sheet folden in half.
Ok now I don't remember if you were asking for advice, oh well you got it!
What in the world is the Mirable Blanket? It sounds like that may be the answer.
Yeah, anything called the miracle anything ought to work, don't you think?
Now you just need the miracle baby to sleep through the night.
Both my girls and my niece slept off and on in their car seats for many weeks after they were born. With Sydney, she eventually got tired of it around 4 weeks. Jules, though, slept in her car seat until she was probably two months old. Then she slept in the swing for a month, and finally we managed to get her in her crib. I have no memory of how we actually make that transition, only that she sleeps there now!
Just as long as he's not actually IN your bed until he's 30 I think whatever you decide to do will be just fine! : )
Oh Sharon, I guess he won't be in my bed till he's thirty, but can't he just use a sleeping bag and sleep next to my bed.
I'm thinking the kid in your room would put a damper on the love life. ;)
I like Kims idea!! Sounds smart..why didn't we think about it! Put the seat in the crib and then slowly transition him out of it. Those silly cribs can be SO big at first.
Love you and here is to more sleep!
When Claire was tiny, and refused to sleep I would put her carseat and all into the crib...worked like magic.
do you feel like with your first you worried about how to do everything 'right' and now you'll do whatever works? that's how i'd feel anyway :) if you and he get more sleep, use the car seat for now. it won't last forever, and they grow so fast anyway, this phase will be a tiny blip in his history before you know it. i used to swaddle my kids tight, and that seemed to help.
I did the swaddling with both Allyson & Thomas. The miracle blanket is just a blanket that helps you to swaddle the little people. If I remember correctly one side has fleece and the other side is silk.
I like Kim's idea of putting his car seat in the crib.
Happy sleeping!
~Danielle :)
I'm just catching up on blogs and saw this one...I love it! I am finding you just have to do what works... I found some good advice in the comments people left you! Right now Diego sleeps in a little bed in our bed and although I worry about what we'll do later when he outgrows this little bed, it works for now. He naps in his swing, so I figure he'll sleep in that at night at some point too! Don't know how we'll make the transition to his crib, but we can worry about that later!!! :)
